Magnum of Viré-Clessé Quintaine De la Bongran 2020 White Wine
This magnum of Viré-Clessé Quintaine 2020, signed E.J. Thévenet, embodies the most emblematic expression of Domaine de la Bongran, a historic estate carried on for several generations by the Thévenet family. Made 100% from the Chardonnay grape variety, this wine comes from the renowned slopes of the Quintaine climate, in the heart of the Viré-Clessé appellation, in the Mâconnais region.
In keeping with the house style, this 2020 vintage retains a subtle touch of residual sugars (about 2g/L), giving the wine a silky texture and remarkable length without ever breaking the balance.
Tasting Notes
The nose is deep and generous, dominated by aromas of white-fleshed fruits (pear, peach), acacia flowers, fine honey, and a delicate note of fresh almonds. On the palate, the attack is ample, almost caressing, followed by a great mineral vivacity that lengthens the wine and gives it a beautiful tension. This 2020 Viré-Clessé stands out for its volume, aromatic purity, and balance between opulence and freshness.
Pairing and Aging
It is a wine for gastronomy that pairs wonderfully with creamed poultry, langoustines, pressed cheese, or even lightly spicy exotic dishes. Thanks to its structure, this magnum will age beautifully for 10 to 15 years, developing over time even more complex notes of wax, white truffle, and dried fruits.
Volume: 1.5 liters
