Domaine Henri et Gilles Buisson

The Henri et Gilles Buisson estate, like Alain Gras, has been one of the driving forces behind the Saint-Romain appellation, a village that was long overlooked in favor of its more prestigious neighbors (Meursault, Puligny, Chassagne...), despite being one of the most beautiful areas in Burgundy, perched at an altitude with breathtaking views over the vine-covered hills, and for its unique and diverse terroirs. This lack of recognition has now been largely filled thanks to the work undertaken by winemakers such as Franck and Frédérick Buisson. Taking over the estate in 2008 after their father Gilles, they quickly obtained organic certification followed by biodynamic certification in 2018 (biodyvin). The wines here have never been more precise, with the entire range being consistent across the 20 hectares of the estate. The wines are fresh, pure, precise, and perfectly balanced in grape ripeness, barrel aging, and minimal intervention (with little to no added sulfur). A must-visit address!
