Domaine Jean-Marc Pillot

Domaine Jean-Marc Pillot

Jean-Marc Pillot is one of the most skilled winemakers in Chassagne-Montrachet. He joined his father Jean Pillot in 1985 and took over in 1991, thus becoming the 5th generation. Leading a 12-hectare estate, he offers a magnificent range of premier crus from the village of Chassagne-Montrachet, both in white and red. Meticulous and demanding, Jean-Marc takes care of his vines as if they were his garden. Plowing and soil work throughout the year, leaf removal and green harvesting in summer. The whites are aged for 12 months with 20% new barrels. The wines are not racked and have low sulfites. Then, each cuvée spends an additional 6 to 8 months in stainless steel tanks before bottling to allow the wines to rest from their aging. The wines reflect their original terroir very well and assert themselves in a distinctive Chassagne style: intensity, concentration, and character! Antonin, Jean-Marc's son, is now taking over the reins with talent. The magnums of wine from Domaine Jean-Marc Pillot presented on this site come directly from the estate.
