Domaine Fouassier

Domaine Fouassier

The Fouassier family is one of the oldest winemaking families in Sancerre, and one of the most respected as well! In 1966, Pierre Fouassier started working with his father on the family's 10ha vineyard, after studying at the Beaune wine school. As he expanded the estate, he was joined by his brother Jean-Michel. The 10th generation is now in charge thanks to Benoit and Paul, the respective children of Jean-Michel and Pierre.

Today, the estate has 59ha planted with 80% Sauvignon Blanc (old vines) and the rest with Pinot Noir. Advocates of biodynamics, the two cousins continue the estate's practices, especially the identification of unique terroirs and single vineyard cuvées, an approach they have pioneered since the 1980s. The wines exhibit a pure and mineral profile, without any woody influence. They are known for their finesse and elegance, never aiming for power or exuberance.
