Domaine Il Carnasciale

Domaine Il Carnasciale

The Podere Il Carnasciale estate is located in Valdarno di Sopra in Tuscany, about thirty kilometers from Siena, in a landscape slightly different from the rest of Tuscany with its green hills. Here, large cliffs, known as the Balze, impressive rocks rise above the landscape at an altitude. The vineyards are situated at 425 meters above sea level on a soil composed of sandstone, clay, and limestone.

In the 1970s, the Rogosky family discovered this estate and settled here. Today, it is managed by Bettina Rogosky and her son Moritz, with the team completed by the cellar master Peter Schilling and the head of cultivation Marco Maffei. This wine has several unique features. It comes from a grape variety called Caberlot, discovered in the 1960s by Dr. Bordini, which likely has a hybrid genetic basis, a natural cross between Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Additionally, it is only available in Magnum format, the ideal container for it to rest for a minimum of 16 months before being released. It is unfined and has very minimal sulfur usage, producing rare wines of exceptional quality.
