In the Domaine Sextant, all the grapes come from vines cultivated without weedkiller or synthetic product, which requires a lot of work on the part of Julien Altabert and his winegrowers who supply the grapes!
The harvest that arrives in the winery is the result of many efforts.
Its natural balance allows me to work in the cellar with great serenity and confidence.
All wines are vinified and aged without any oenological products (or sulphites) with very little intervention.
We do not try to make great wines but true, honest wines with the best possible drinkability index.
Wine is a drink of conviviality, friendship, celebration!
Julien Altaber grew up in the south of Burgundy. In love with the Auvergne where he spent all his family holidays behind cows or on tractors.
At the end of college only one possible profession: PEASANT! But peasant agriculture is difficult.
Living in the heart of the Mâconnais, it is quite naturally that he turns to viticulture.
At the age of 16, first internship, first vinif: he loves it!
The harvest, the fermentation, the wine, Julien Altabert has just discovered an exciting environment.
After a few internships and hires in different areas of the Mâconnais and Beaujolais, he continued his training in 2000 in a large Beaunois trading house.
He spent two years there and then sought to return to a small family estate, in organic farming.
He arrives for the 2002 harvest in Saint-Aubin at Dominique DERAIN. He rediscovers the peasant spirit of his origins.
Passionate, hard-working people who love and know their job. The complicity is immediate, HE came to discover organic farming and also discovers biodynamics and natural wines ....! Involved in all positions: vineyard, cellar, trade...
