Stéphane Tissot is a name that has become essential in the Jura region and a winemaker who, through hard work, has helped elevate the reputation of Jura wines. His motto is to reveal the terroirs of Jura, particularly around his home base of Montigny les Arsures. The Tissot estate was established by Stéphane's parents in 1962, a family foundation that Stéphane took over in 1989.
After a period of observation, a turning point occurred in the late 90s with the transition of the estate to organic and biodynamic practices. Whether in red (Pinot Noir, Trousseau, Poulsard) or white (Chardonnay, Savagnin), Stéphane reveals a magnificent collection of old vines flourishing on a variety of soils and terroirs. A complexity of terroirs that Stéphane showcases on about fifty hectares.
In the cellar, Stéphane is constantly experimenting with different containers, aging durations, and sulfur levels (always kept minimal). We are impressed by the consistency in quality of wines from the Domaine Tissot with each vintage. A metronome that never falls into monotony!
