Chartreuse Yellow 2024 – Jeroboam 3L – Les Pères Chartreux
Created in 1840, this yellow liqueur is inspired by the recipe of the Vegetal Elixir. Faced with its success, Father Garnier, then procurator and liqueur responsible, decided to officially name it Chartreuse Yellow and registered the trademark "Chartreuse" in 1852.
This 2024 vintage, recently released by the Chartreuse Fathers, faithfully perpetuates the tradition. Made from 130 plants, flowers, barks, roots, and spices, it stands out for its sweetness, spicy aromas, and natural color.
The making of Yellow Chartreuse differs from the Green Chartreuse and requires several weeks of work, divided into several meticulous steps:
Grinding prepared by the monks in the plant room of the Grande Chartreuse monastery
Distillation to extract the aroma
Various types of maceration that reveal the active principles of the plants and give the liqueur its natural golden hue
It then ages for a long time in oak barrels, and continues to evolve and refine in the bottle.
