Magnum red wine Nuits-Saint-Georges "Les grandes vignes" 2023 Pierre Olivier Garcia
This magnum of Nuits Saint Georges Les Grandes Vignes 2023 from Pierre-Olivier Garcia is a very pretty plot located on the edge of Premeaux Prissé, next to the vines of Count Liger Belair.
Pierre Olivier Garcia uses an atypical technique called "berry by berry": it consists of harvesting and then drastically sorting the grapes, by cutting the stem (the vegetative part of the cluster) with scissors to leave the pedicel (the stem in contact with the grape berry) intact. A very time-consuming and labor-intensive practice, therefore rarely used by winemakers. Without compromise, Pierre-Olivier applies this to all his vintages, with one-third of the harvest treated this way (one-third remaining is destemmed, the other third whole cluster). The nose exudes wildflowers, rose, peony, and lilac.
This Les Grandes Vignes is an airy wine, both delicate and refined, with flavors of elderberry, cranberry, wild strawberry, and a very nice acidity, almost a mineral finish. Very beautiful as it is every year!
