This magnum of Château Lagrezette Malbec 2018 is a magnificent ode to the emblematic grape variety of Cahors: malbec. While this grape has its historical origins in Bordeaux, it thrives today in Cahors. The wines of Lagrezette are proof of this. One can feel the harmony between grape variety, terroirs, and climates of the region. This 2018 vintage opens with smooth and refined notes of blackcurrant, blackberry, and blueberry. Nothing here is overdone or over-extracted; the grape variety is led to a perfect balance between solar ripeness and the natural acidity of the grape. The oak barrel aging concludes with finely toasted notes, beautifully smoothing out the tannins. Best enjoyed now
