Magnum Bourgogne Aligoté Skin Contact Le Grappin 2021
This magnum of Bourgogne Aligoté Skin Contact 2021 from Domaine Le Grappin is a superb and original wine in its approach and content.
The result is magnificent. Andrew Nielsen, an Australian who has traveled extensively before settling in Burgundy, is behind this micro-negotiant "Le Grappin." He is also a pioneer of this "skin contact" approach with Aligoté, a Burgundian grape variety that has regained popularity. "Skin contact" involves pressing this white grape variety after a more or less long maceration on the skins (where the norm is to press the white grapes directly after harvest). This approach brings out a beautiful complexity in this Aligoté, with notes of orange peel, citrus, peach, nectarine, and hawthorn, all with subtle bitterness. A top-notch Aligoté and an originality to discover without delay!
