Château de la Tour

Château de la Tour

The Labet family is one of the oldest winemaking families in Burgundy (the first traces of the family date back to the 15th century!), originally producing wines from prestigious appellations. The family was responsible for the construction of Château de la Tour in 1890, a magnificent building erected within the Clos Vougeot to store the grapes from their grand cru vineyards, of which the Labet family is one of the largest owners. A unique feature that allows the family to be the only one to vinify and age their grand cru Clos Vougeot in close proximity to the vineyards. Since 1930, Château de la Tour has been harvesting, vinifying, aging, and bottling their entire production, spread over 6 hectares. Certified organic since 1992 (recently implementing biodynamic practices), the estate has joined the ranks of the most prestigious domains in Burgundy, thanks to meticulous work in the vineyards and in the cellar. A labor of love led by François Labet, who has recently been joined by his equally passionate son Edouard. One successful choice they made was to return to using whole bunches for silky, velvety, and incredibly aromatic wines. The wines age gracefully. We are fans!
