Magnum Blanc Beaune Clos des Mouches 1er Cru Joseph Drouhin 2021

This magnum of Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Blanc 2021 from Maison Joseph Drouhin is a rare bottle, the result of the magic of this 7ha terroir acquired in the 1920s by Maurice Drouhin (son of Joseph), who was convinced of the exceptional potential of the location. The Clos des Mouches (actually bees are prevalent in this vineyard) is indeed the iconic wine of the Drouhin family, a 1er Cru that competes every year with the Grands Crus of the Côte. Ideally located halfway up the slopes bordering the capital of Burgundy wines, not far from Pommard, it produces a white wine that combines creaminess and minerality. The meticulous biodynamic work of the estate gives this great Burgundy an extra touch of soul. The nose evokes white flowers (lilac) and rose, followed by yellow fruits, citrus, almond, and a magnificent hint of hazelnut. The palate brings out lemon, white truffle, white flowers, honey, acacia, and nutmeg... A medley of powerful and precise aromas. Velvet texture in the mouth with impressive volume and a structure built for aging. Think of the complexity and elegance of a Grand Cru Batard-Montrachet combined with the power of a Corton-Charlemagne. A very fine wine, with the magnum format offering remarkable aging potential (up to 15 years), allowing you to save it for special occasions.
