This magnum of White Moon 2020 from Domaine le Conte des Floris is remarkably original and boasts a unique aromatic profile. Firstly, it stands out due to the grape variety used, which is the white carignan, a mutation of the carignan gris grape variety that is rarely planted due to its high fertility and complicated management. Daniel has isolated a plot of very low-yielding carignan gris (20hl/ha) for this wine. The result is a natural concentration that blends perfectly with the natural freshness and minerality of this grape variety, which ripens late and therefore retains a lot of salinity and acidity. This magnum of White Moon 2020 also benefits from one year of aging in oak barrels, imparting a pleasant light toasty note. The palate is smooth, digestible, and delightfully flavorful, with hints of almonds, white flowers, and a touch of gray pepper and sweet spices. Exotic fruits join the dance towards the finish, offering a certain roundness and a strong companion for scallops, a risotto, or a tartare. A superb wine with hints of Burgundian and Rhône accents!
