The Jéroboam Mercurey 1er Cru Clos l'évêque from Domaine Gouffier is an exceptional wine from a 0.81-hectare plot. This plot is planted with Pinot Noir grape variety on sandy soil at the top of the vineyard and clayey and ochre soil at the bottom, creating a unique terroir.
At Domaine Gouffier, respect for the terroir is essential. Viticultural practices include plowing, Guyot Poussard pruning, shoot thinning, and leaf removal, with the exclusive use of products authorized in organic viticulture. In the cellar, the wine is vinified with 70% whole clusters, then aged entirely in 228-liter barrels from forests in central France. This method gives the wine structure and fullness.
This Premier Cru has a deep color and reveals spicy and black fruit aromas on the nose. Its assertive structure on the palate is evident from the first sip, giving it a beautiful length in the mouth. The Jéroboam Mercurey 1er Cru Clos l'évêque Domaine Gouffier 2022 is a wine of exceptional quality, reflecting the unique terroir from which it originates.
