The Podere Il Carnasciale estate is located in Valdarno di Sopra in Tuscany, about thirty kilometers from Siena, in a landscape somewhat different from the rest of Tuscany with its green hills. Here, large cliffs, called Balze, impressive rocks rise in altitude above the landscape, the vineyards are located at 425 meters above sea level on a soil composed of sandstone, clay, and limestone.

In the 1970s, the Rogosky family discovered this estate and settled here. Today, it is run by Bettina Rogosky and her son Moritz, with the team completed by the cellar master Peter Schilling and the farming manager Marco Maffei. This wine has several particularities, it comes from a grape variety called Caberlot discovered in the 1960s by Dr. Bordini, which likely has a hybrid genetic base, a natural cross between Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Furthermore, it is only available in Magnum format, the ideal container for it to rest for a minimum of 16 months before being marketed. All this without filtration and with very moderate use of sulfur, resulting in rare wines of exceptional quality.

This Magnum of Il Caberlot from the Podere Il Carnasciale estate 2013 is a very great wine with a magnificent and complex nose, a long palate with stunning power and notes of spices and black fruits. A wine built for a very long aging, which will need to be decanted well in advance to fully appreciate it with a nice piece of beef.
