Michel Couvreur's refined and complex Whisky
Magnum Whisky Overaged
Michel Couvreur was a pioneer in aging Scottish whiskies in France in original containers (Sherry, Port, yellow wine...). Established in Burgundy as a wine merchant, he set up his aging cellar in Bouze-les-Beaune, in a highly humid cellar. Michel Couvreur's credo, who passed away in 2013, but whose tradition continues thanks to his family and his cellar master Jean-Arnaud Frantzen: "Whisky is the fertilization of a cereal distillate by oak wood intensely impregnated with the flavors of great wines."
This Magnum of Whisky Overaged is a blend of whiskies aged from a minimum of 12 years up to 20 years, which were aged in PX Sherry casks in the Couvreur family's cellars in Bouze les Beaune. Naturally, distilled in Scotland from high-quality distillates reduced to 43 degrees by water from the Pentland Hills, this slightly peaty whisky delivers notes of blond tobacco, wild herbs, hay, and dried citrus. Magnificent.
