Magnum Clos de la Roche Grand Cru 2022 - Domaine Castagnier

Fifth generation at the Domaine, Jérôme Castagnier has taken the reins of this exceptional winemaking heritage with passion and determination. A former professional trumpeter who even joined the prestigious Republican Guard, he finally yielded to the call of the vineyard in 2005. On four hectares of vines, Jérôme cultivates treasures such as the Grands Crus Charmes Chambertin, Clos Saint Denis, Clos Vougeot, and Clos de la Roche, which he strives to sublimate with a modern and respectful approach: fully renovated vat room, extended aging in barrels, renewal of the barrel stock, and organic viticulture.

This Magnum of Clos de la Roche Grand Cru 2022, from old vines located on the heights of Morey-Saint-Denis, reveals the very essence of this exceptional terroir. With a large part of its 60 ares in the Mochamps climate, this wine is aged in new barrels at 40%, offering remarkable aging potential.

The nose exhales rich aromas of black and red fruits, perfectly integrated with quality toasted wood notes. On the palate, it is generous and dense, with a clear structure carried by present but harmonious tannins. Concentrated flavors of ripe fruits, blackcurrant, and peony blend with notes of sweet spices, creating a refined and intense gustatory experience.

This exceptional wine can stand on its own, but it will also be an ideal companion for refined dishes such as a 7-hour lamb, truffle-stuffed guinea fowl, or duck in its blood sauce.
