This MACON CRUZILLE LES CHASSAGNES 2021 magnum from the Vignes du Maynes estate is a Chardonnay produced exclusively in magnum.
A rarity embraced by Julien Guillot. This vineyard plot was abandoned around 1880 due to phylloxera and replanted by the Domain in 2005. The soil is clay-limestone, shallow with very calcareous silts, resulting in low yields (20 hl/ha) and a marked minerality in the wines. The grapes are always beautiful, very gently handled during vinification, and aged for 11 months in 600-liter demi-muids. This 2017 is a precise, mineral, and saline wine, showing great complexity. It exhibits the Domain's signature, with subtle notes of nutmeg, walnut, and hazelnut, as well as the salty, mineral touch of the terroir. Ideal as an aperitif, exquisite with goat cheese or a 24-month aged Comté.
