Jéroboam red wine Chateauneuf du Pape 2021, Château de Beaucastel

The Château de Beaucastel is recognized as one of the gems of French winemaking, particularly for its high-quality Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines. Located in the northern part of the appellation, the estate benefits from an optimal exposure to the Mistral winds and an exceptional terroir composed of rolled pebbles, clays, sands, and limestone. Committed to organic agriculture since the 1960s, Beaucastel allows all thirteen traditional grape varieties of the appellation to fully express themselves.

This vintage shows a return to the classic characteristics of the 80s/90s, offering freshness and balance. The year 2021 was decisive due to its capricious climate, with a frost episode in April and harvest interruptions caused by rain, requiring increased vigilance from the teams. These efforts resulted in the production of a promising wine, with great elegance and rich aromatics.

The grape harvest is done manually and individually, respecting the specificities of each variety: vinification is done in conical wooden vats for reducing grape varieties like Syrah and Mourvèdre, while the other varieties go through traditional concrete vats. After malolactic fermentations, the wines are blended and aged in oak vats for a year before bottling.

The wine has a deep red color with violet reflections. Its complex bouquet combines fruity maturity and fresh notes, with hints of spices and fresh fruits. On the palate, the wine is elegant, ample, and silky, starting with typical spicy notes of the scrubland, then revealing a perfect balance between tannic richness and delicate roundness. The finish is long, suggesting excellent aging potential.

For an optimal experience, serve at around 15°C, after decanting to fully appreciate its complexity.

The Jéroboam Château de Beaucastel 2021 promises excellent aging, capable of developing even more complexity and nuance over time.
