This Magnum of Givry 1er Cru Clos du Cellier aux Moines 2014 from Cellier aux Moines comes from a historic plot in Givry identified for centuries by the Cistercian monks as one of the flagship vineyards of Burgundy, beautifully exposed facing south, downhill from the monks' cellars (built around 1130). The vines at Cellier are farmed biodynamically, and the grapes are partially destemmed and then gently crushed to preserve all their aromatic and gustatory potential. The wine is aged in oak barrels for 18 months.
