Loic de Suremain comes from a long line of winemakers established at Château de Bourgneuf, on the outskirts of Mercurey. Passionate and skilled hunter, Loic is a man of the land who approaches his profession with all the necessary peasant common sense: a lot of work in the vineyard, a reasoned approach, all with the sole objective of harvesting healthy, ripe grapes in controlled quantities. The work in the winery continues with sorting and destemming of the grapes, maceration in wooden vats, temperature control, and careful aging in oak barrels for a minimum of 12 months in the Domaine's cellars. The wines reflect the winemaker: cheerful, flavorful, juicy, and gamey!

This Magnum of red wine Mercurey 1st Cru La Bondue from Domaine De Suremain comes from a beautiful 1st Cru terroir in Mercurey, on clay-limestone soils resting on the mother rock with a good proportion of iron oxide. The result is a powerful but flavorful and digestible wine, with fine tannins and a lovely structure of tangy red fruits, without excessive woodiness. It is the very expression of juicy and earthy Mercurey. The aromas focus on blackcurrant, blueberry, with a nice smoky, bacon touch. This 2019 can be enjoyed for its fruitiness now or aged for a few years to tame the power of the vintage.
