Vézelay is a historic terroir dating back to the Roman era where a lot of wine was produced. The vineyard was devastated by Phylloxera at the end of the 19th century, but since the 1970s, around twenty winemakers have replanted vines on the best exposed hillsides (Tharoiseau, Asquins, Saint-Père, and Vézelay), now covering about a hundred hectares. After some experiences in different French vineyards, Sophie and Matthieu Woillez created their own estate in 2019. On 10 hectares of vineyards with clay-limestone soil, they produce well-balanced wines with a blend of fruit and minerality. The estate is environmentally friendly, through soil plowing and the elimination of insecticides, and is currently in organic conversion.
