François Gilles had a first career as a graphic designer in Paris. But another passion had been gnawing at him for quite some time: wine. But not haphazardly, not on a whim. He trained with numerous winemakers, in France and abroad, for a good ten years. Finally feeling ready, he embarked on the Maudit Flacon adventure in 2018, leveraging his diverse experience to vinify various grape varieties from here and there (Languedoc, Auvergne...) in his garage in Annecy. Real garage wines that quickly impress the wine world.

A year later, he acquired 4 hectares of vineyards planted between Lake Bourget and the Rhône. François identified a genuine terroir there conducive to wines of unique character, made on marl and limestone soils, amidst remarkably preserved biodiversity. In line with his labels, François adopts a biodynamic viticulture, based on lunar calendar observations for vineyard work and also in the cellar, where the wines see no additives. Free-spirited wines like the man who skillfully paved his own path!

This Magnum Les Astres Invisibles from domaine des Fables is a lovely wine made from Mondeuse, a typical Savoie grape variety that produces characterful wines with aromas of truffles, blackcurrant, and prunes. The nose is powerful with notes of black fruits, violets, and pepper, the palate is velvety, slightly spicy leading to a fresh and spicy finish.

For what occasion? A family meal on a Sunday with a good spicy roast pork.
